Position

Group Database Manager

 

Introduction

Reporting directly to the Director, Technical Services – Exploration, this position will also take directions from other senior management within the team and work collaboratively with the entire Exploration team. The ideal candidate for this position will be a motivated self-starter with solid prior experience with different stages of exploration development.

 

Location

This is a full-time position based at B2Gold’s Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada with flexible work arrangement available.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage B2Gold’s global exploration databases, comprising multiple projects at various stages of advancement from grassroots to near mine (Brownfields);
  • Design and implement standard operating procedures for the capture, validation, organizational structure and reporting of analytical results from new and ongoing exploration programs, including drill hole data, geochemical sampling data, metallurgical data, geotechnical and other data;
  • Design and implement Quality Control/Quality Assurance procedures for exploration data;
  • Command of a broad range of gold and multi-element analytical methods for various sample media;
  • Collaborate with Exploration and Operations teams in mine settings and new project evaluation/M&A activities;
  • Prepare and manage elements of the budgeting process including budgeting and monitoring expenditures related to travel, hardware, and software requirements for global database staff; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

 

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Geochemical or other relevant discipline from a recognized university;
  • Minimum five years of experience in grassroots to advanced exploration, mine operations, analytical laboratory etc., combined with minimum five years of experience managing databases;
  • Be in good standing as a P.Geo with a provincial-level Geology and Engineering association or eligibility for registration, EGBC preferred.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills;
  • Proficiency with SQL based systems (Fusion and Datashed) as well as MS Access, Excel, and Word;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good presentation styles;
  • Good interdisciplinary bases of experience for potential collaboration with Exploration and Operations teams;
  • Command of industry best practices and application of NI 43-101 (JORC) reporting requirements and standards;
  • Strong working familiarity with data security: cybersecurity compliance, project/personnel access, distribution, version control, and archival practice/procedure;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multi-disciplinary teams, as well as work independently to complete assignments;
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of commitment to meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with different cultures across different time zones.

 

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Be certified in CPR/First Aid

 

 

Job Demands/Physical Requirements

  • This position is based out of our Vancouver head office with a flexible work arrangement option available;
  • This position requires frequent international and domestic travels to our project sites which may be at short notice; extended site visits may be required for team training, site audits, etc.

B2Gold offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skill set, and a comprehensive benefit package for employees and their eligible dependents. The base salary range for this position is CAD $170,000.00 – 200,000.00 per annum, which is the anticipated pay at the time of hire but does not reflect similar future job opportunities. Details of the total compensation package will be shared during the interview process.
